Ingredients for Flour

  • 1. 400 grams- Wheat flour or flour
  • 2. Salt – To Taste
  • 3. 1 Tea Spoon Oil or Ghee

Ingredients for Pooran

  • 1. 150 gm Split Bengal gram (Chane ki daal)
  • 2. 50 gm Sugar or Jaggery (Gur)
  • 3. 8-10 Green Cardamom (Chhoti Elaichi)
  • 4. 100-150 gm Ghee or Refined Oil

Procedure of Pooran Poli

  • 1. Soak Bengal gram (Chana Dal) for 4-5 hours.
  • 2. Strain flour, add 1 tablespoon Ghee, Salt to taste to it and mix well. Moistened flour into dough smoothly with warm water. Cover with a wet cloth and keep aside for 20 minutes.
  • 3. Boil gram (chana dal) in pressure cooker in 2 cups of water. Turn off the fire after 1 whistle. Take out lentil, cool it and then grind it in mixer without water.
  • 4. Heat 1 Teaspoon Ghee, add powdered Sugar and ground lentil in it (if you want to add jaggery, then cut small pieces of jaggery & drop in hot ghee and melt it, then add ground lentil). Cook for 5 minutes , add a tiny pinch of Chhotti Elaichi, mix well and cool it & keep aside. Your Pooran is ready.
  • 5. First heat a griddle then make a small ball of dough, flatten the balls and stuff 2 Teaspoon of pooran. Seal and press it between your palms so that your pooran poli will not break while rolling. Rub this stuffed ball with flour and roll out it into flat circle. Put your Pooran Poli in griddle and spread 1 Teaspoon oil in all sides, fry it till golden brown on both sides.
  • 6.Pooran Poli is ready, Serve with a hot Ghee.
